The land of nightmares and honey -open-

I woke up with a start again, body trembling and heart pounding. The same scent and feeling I could never place had been in my dream. A tiny 'marwo' had escaped my maw, and I burrowed deeper into the mess of fur and moss. But I didnt open my eyes, I never had, not yet. But as a paw poked me I almost did. Instead I jerked with a start, I hadnt been aware anyone else was awake.

[Owlpaw]

Owl kit stared at a kit he had never seen before. He prodded her with his paw. "Hi there! I'm Owlkit!" he shouted. Then he realized others were sleeping and shut his tiny mouth. "Who are you?" he then whispered loudly eager to meet this new kit.

[Littlefeather]

Littlefeather had stayed awake thinking about today and what had happened. Her tail was curled around her last two surviving kits as she stared at the entrance of the nursery which was lit up by the moonlight. She heard something. She turned her head to see Songkit jolt awake. She stared at Shadowheart's kit and smiled sweetly at her. Are you alright? she whispered so she didn't wake anyone else.

She saw Owlkit. She twitched her ears as he shouted. The oldest kit in the nursery was being as loud as ever. Owlkit, she meowed queitly but sternly. She wrapped her tail tighter around Cheetahkit, and Jaykit. She sighed. Its time he became an apprentice soon, she thought a little irritated at the young kit.

[Songkit]

I put a tiny paw on the other kits mouth, and staggered past him toward the queen who had spoken. "yes Im fine, thank you." My sweet and perfect voice was barly a whisper but it still honeyed the air gently. Then I turned to face the kit who had poked me. 'Im Songkit, nice to eet you." I tried to stay polite, but I could feel my pelt prickle wit unease. Fur soon over came the moss, and I scented the queen. Gingerly I sat down near what felt like her paw.

[Littlefeather]

Littlefeather looked at Songkit sweetly. Nice to meet you Songkit. My name is Littlefeather, she purred sweetly. She picked the kit up by the scruff and put her in front of her. She looked back at Owlkit and beckoned to him with her paw.

[Songkit]

I sunggled into the fur, and looked up to where I thought the queens head would be. "whats it like to see?" My voice was gentle and sweet and I resisted the urge to open my eyes. Littlefeather, I wonder what her kits are like, is Owl one of them.... I wonder what color her eyes are.

[Littlefeather]

Well young one. Its amazing. To see everyone and everything. Why don't you just try to open your eyes. It will help you to see me and Owlkit, and your siblings an my kits, she meowed softly pressing her softly to her chest.

[Shadowheart]

Shadowheart looked over at her daughter, and gave her an encouraging nudge. Come on and open your eyes Songkit. She purred.

[Songkit]

I smiled and purred, leaning toward my mother. Slowly I opened my eyes, and still saw nothing. It felt like air cooling off a part of my face, but everything was still black. "Is it night time?" My voice was gentle and I stared at nothing. Eyes blank.

[Littlefeather]

Littlefeather looked clsely at Songkit's eyes. They were blank. With her first litter one of her kits was blind so she knew a blind kit when she saw one. She blinked her eyes at Songkit. She looked over to Shadowheart and twitched her ears to her. Um....well it's dawn now....but Songkit.... she trailed off. She had to do the same thing before so she has to do it now. Songkit, i'm sorry to say it but you're blind, she meowed quietly looking away from the kit.

[Shadowheart]

Shadowheart sighed. Yep, blind - Littlefeather wasn't wrong. Songkit? She wanted to make sure her daughter knew she was here, and she held her closer.

[Songkit]

I turned toward my mothers voice, staring yet not seeing. My voice was flat. "Oh. Ok then." I leaned slightly into my mother, and closed my eyes. My ears flicked and I curled up into a ball. "Whats that mean?"

[Littlefeather]

Littlefeather took a deep breath. It means you'll never be able to see, she meowed with a sigh. It was hard to tell a kit that but the kit's need to know things.

[Songkit]

I scoffed and flicked my ear. "Really? I had no idea. Whats it mean for my future?" At first my voice was thick in sarcasm, then I sighed and switched to a tired tone. Honestly Im not an idiot. Just because I cant see with my eyes dosnt mean I cant see.

[Littlefeather]

Littlefeather flattened her ears. Ever since her kit's died she has been very snippy with everyone. She twitched her tail tip and didn't respond and closed her eyes and turned her hear away from Songkit and layed it on her paws. Everyone got her angry now even Echostar but she was just depressed and sadened. It's going to take a lot to get her to be less snappy. Well you never did specify, she snapped still not looking at the kit and it's mother.

[Songkit]

I smiled, but it was slow. "Yeah, but I know what blind is. So could you answer my question?" My voice was had a lot of pressure at the end and I licked my paw absently.

Littlefeather still didn't look back. I don't really know what it means for your future. You'll probably still be a warrior but I don't know I was a kittypet before Willowclan, she meowed twitching her ears clearly irritated. She sighed and looked towards her nest where she saw Cheetahkit and Jaykit asleep. Her heart ached as she tried to picture Darkkit Leopardkit and Stripedkit with them. She felt tears forming in her eyes but didn't let them fall. She just stared at her nest.

[Shadowheart]

Shadowheart frowned. Just because you are blind, doesnt mean you cant be a warrior. I have heard of blind cats as warriors before. She said to her daughter.

[Littlefeather]

Littlefeather snapped away from her thoughts when Shadowheart spoke. She turned her head back to Songkit and Shadowheart. Tears still in her eyes. I-I I'm sorry, she meowed quietly laying her he'd on her paws staring at the ground.

[Songkit]

I snorted and raised a kitty eyebrow, still staring blankly ahead. "Why are you sorry? You didnt do any thing wrong as I recall." My voice was curious, yet the top sounded bored and unconcerned.
