Echostar was sitting outside, the sun's rays just barely peeking over the horizon. He had been up for some time now, though it was his usual schedule. Nothing special about the day. Well, unless you included Owlpaw's training. That was something.
At last, he decided it was time to start. Getting up, the leader walked straight into the apprentices' den, not afraid of waking anyone else up, since there were no other cats in the den. Echostar couldn't help but feel slightly bad for his apprentice. Owlpaw would have no other apprentices to play with. The only other one was Orangepaw, and she was the medicine cat apprentice.
" owlpaw ... training. " He called softly, despite the way he had entered. The gray tom backed out of the den and took a seat next to the entrance. He had already eaten, he was just waiting for his apprentice to come out and get something.
He'd never been a mentor before, and honestly had no idea what to do. He guessed he would just start with showing Owlpaw around the territory, then show him the basics, such as the infamous hunter's crouch. The rest ... well, the rest, he would just improvise. Then after that, they could do a few more sessions on battle training.
But Echostar couldn't help but hope that his apprentice would never find the need to use the moves. Sure, maybe some practice with friends, but the still young leader wanted to maintain the peace they had among the other clans, and the rogues. A war with so few cats would be disastrous. They would end up all killing each other.
With a slight shudder, he shook his head and cleared his head of such thoughts. Today was supposed to be a bright new day, with the second apprentice of the clan. Or rather, the first apprentice to be training to become a warrior. [please at least try to put more than 100 words in your post]

Owlpaw woke up and crawled out of the lonely apprentice den. Orangepaw didn't sleep here. It just was very different than when he was in the nursery. Well, it was like when he first joined the clan. No other kits were there to entertain him and at first the queens were not there. But then came Skycloud and Fawnstep. They made it more fun to be there. It would be the same with the apprentice den. He thought. There were a lot of kits... Though they all had long ways to go. He sighed and walked up to Echostar, his mentor.
"Hello Echostar, I'm ready for today's training! What are we going to do?" he asked trying to sound somewhat eager. He was, it was just that he kind of had other things on his mind. He walked closer. They were probably going to do basic stuff like the hunter's crouch or exploring the territory and the borders. That will be fun. He thought sarcastically. Then waited for Echostar to reply to his questions. He tried to make his mood better. He was supposed to be excited.

So he didn't want to explore the territory? Alright then. He could go back to doing what he usually did, without lagging around in the territory all day, trying to teach some hurried and lazy bum how to crouch properly. He was perfectly fine with that idea.
" what else do you think we're going to do? explore the territory. hunter's crouch. basics. did you expect more? like learning how to fly and then drop fire-balls on the other clans? or maybe learn how to communicate with other animals, and make them into our little spies? or maybe you thought that we were going to learn how to control starclan? "
His voice was sarcastic, and somewhat irritated at the look on his new apprentice's face. Owlpaw evidently didn't want to learn how the territory worked. Well, that was a loss for him. If they were ever attacked by another clan, he wouldn't even know how to escape, much less do a counter-attack. Unlike his oh-so-excited apprentice, he had no need to even try to act happy about training.
It wasn't like Echostar was going to be reprimanded by his apprentice. He had been running on a short temper lately, from when Littlefeather had told him that three of her kits had died. It was mainly a way to express his anger for how the world worked, and it really did help him to take out his anger on another.
Even if it was his apprentice, and it meant they were going to have a rough relationship. So what? It was one cat. It didn't mean the whole of WillowClan was going to turn on him and throw him off the throne of leadership.
Even if they attempted that, he would probably rebuke and end up going on a killing frenzy. Well, killing everyone other than Littlefeather. She deserved to live. While everyone she cared about died. Echostar let out an almost silent growl at his angry and somewhat bloodthirsty thoughts, and once again redirected his anger towards Owlpaw.
" well, what are you waiting for? let's go! " He snapped, and stalked out into the territory, not even bothering to offer a piece of prey as a boost to the rough day that Owlpaw was sure to have.

Owlpaw didn't see why his leader was behaving in an odd way and decided to keep on walking. He saw that the anger wasn't fully on him, but he didn't see what else Echostar could be mad about either. He shrugged and followed Echostar into the territory and looked around in aw.
IT was amazing, much better than the dull nursery. Even if he had known that some of Littlefeather's kits had died, it couldn't really spoil this... or could it. Owlpaw followed Echostar and continued walking through the amazing WillowClan territory trying to ignore the pang of hunger inside of him.

He ignored the normally soothing sound of willow leaves sweeping with the wind, crushing the fallen leaves and grass under his paws, mercilessly. He marched to the first border, HollyClan. " this is the hollyclan border. tell me everything you know about it. "
Echostar planted himself right in front of the line of strong smell, his tail almost brushing it. His pale gray eyes stared at Owlpaw, dead. He was tense, as if he expected someone or something to jump out at him and slit his throat open to leave him to die.
And Owlpaw's. Or maybe the apprentice would run off to also let the leader die. Well, either way, it meant he would die. Which was why he was on his defense.

Owlpaw stared for a few moments. He had not in all his life know anything about Hollyclan... Well, he knew a few things, but not that many. "Well, HollyClan lives in a forest with lots of plants and the territory has many holly bushes." Owlpaw said somewhat nervously. His voice would have been shaking if he didn't have a naturally loud voice.
He waited silently while he waited for the leader to answer. His stomach made a weird sound and he felt like he blushed. He tried again to ignore his hunger, but he hadn't eaten in a while and it was hard to ignore it.

Echostar continued staring at Owlpaw, the awkward sound of his apprentice's stomach rumbling breaking the silence. " who's the leader? " He demanded, ignoring Owlpaw's stomach who seemed to be already suffering from the lack of a meal before they had started out.
He was perfectly fine himself, of course. He'd eaten long before he had gone to wake Owlpaw. Without waiting for an answer from him, he got up and started heading towards the next and last border. OakClan. He hadn't really interacted with either other clan, other than that one Gathering. Other than that, he'd really had no run-ins with them.
He only knew the leaders, deputies, medicine cats, and some of the queens. All the other cats, to him, were just useless wastes of space. Then again, all of them were, but they were even more useless.

Owlpaw just stared and continued to follow the leader. He didn't find out why Echostar had asked him a silly question... maybe it was not meant to be silly... but he didn't know why Echostar had asked him that. He didn't reply. His stomach was quiet now and he was glad.
He didn't know why the leader had not replied to his answer either, but he ignored it like he did to a lot of thins now that e was an apprentice... no now that he was in training. He followed Echostar along the path to the next border and wondered which one it was.

Before they could reach the OakClan-WillowClan border, though, Echostar stopped abruptly. He glared up ahead, but his words were meant only for Owlpaw.
" you still haven't answered my question yet. or have you already forgotten it? "
His voice like steel, his eyes the color of it, he continued on again, towards the border. Soon, they were there. It was easily noticed, since their scent was stronger than HollyClan's. Just like an oak was stronger than a holly bush, or a willow tree.
Echostar sat down right in front of it, then turned his eyes back to Owlpaw.

"The leader of HollyClan is Hummingstar." Owlpaw said. he didn't know why he had to learn other clan's leaders... but then again he didn't know that much at all. He only knew how to play, which was a kit thing. While he answered he tried not to let Echostar's hard metal voice to cut him.
It was hard knowing that Echostar was leader and that he was mad at him... Or maybe it wasn't directed at him. No it had to be there was no other reason to be angry... Or at least that Owlpaw could think of at the moment. His eyes glittered worryingly.
