Owlkit looked around willowclan camp. He loved the willows. They looked so pretty. "anybody want to play?" he called softly not thinking anyone could hear him, he called louder. "Anybody wanna play?" he yowled a bit louder.

Echostar poked his head out of the den, which was built very close to a willow tree in the WillowClan camp, almost right on top of it. The pale gray tom had been awaken from his sleep at the sound of a high-pitched yowl, that had came from either a young she-cat, or a kit. His gray eyes looking down into camp, he could see that it had obviously been a kit. He hadn't been able to hear the words, and could offer no reply.
Instead, he headed out of his den to greet the kit. " hello there. " His voice was gentle in speaking, and he sat down in front of one of the newest members of WillowClan. In fact, one of the three. There were still very few cats in his clan, and he hoped there would be more. Otherwise they would never survive.

Owlkit looked up. He was very surprised. He was not expecting WillowClan's leader to come. "Hi." Owlkit squeaked. His eyes were huge. Then he silently scolded himself for acting frightened in front of the leader. He straightened up and said boldly, "My name is Owlkit!"

A faint smile appeared as Owlkit suddenly straightened up made himself look like he belonged here. Which he did. " it's nice to meet you, owlkit. i'm guessing you know who i am? " He wasn't assuming he was popular among the two other members of the clan. It was just ... he was the leader. It was what he simply expected, but not in a haughty way. Just how it was. Besides, Echostar was pretty sure that Owlkit knew who he was.

"Of course I know who you are!" Owlkit yowled. How could he not? "You're Echostar!" Owlkit gave him a big smile.

See? Owlkit did know his name. The words were spoken to himself, seeming more like trying to convince himself, than to convince another. Besides, there really wasn't anyone else to convince. Echostar slightly shook his head filled with the random and crazy thoughts, then returned the smile. " well, like i said ... nice to meet you, owlkit. "
This little bundle of energy would certainly do well as an apprentice. Hunting would certainly use up some of that fuse, as well as pay off for their clan. I hope there'll be more cats by that time to pay off for. Echostar shook his head, not wanting to think about his clan's population. He should be glad that it wasn't being overwhelmed by too many members.

Owlkit skipped around. "Do you know when there will be other clan members that I can play with? When you and Fawnstep are busy, Who can I play with?" Owlkit asked still skipping around. "Can you teach me anything right now, or do I have to wait. I don't want to wait." Owlkit was talking quickly and kept stumbling over words.

Echostar started shaking his head slowly. There weren't many cats in the clan at all, much less an abundance of kits. So far, Owlkit was the only one they had. The rest of them had filled in the spots of queen, deputy, medicine cat, and himself as the leader. The youngest cat of them all was probably Birdflame's new apprentice, Orangepaw. A faint smile was brought to his lips as he remembered the ... well, rather lazy apprentice. Echostar was sure that she was hardworking, just not in the specific times that he was there. What a coincidence. The phantom-like tom shrugged it off. There wasn't much to worry about, she still had plenty of time to learn. From Birdflame.
Still, she might make a decent playmate. She wasn't a total grump who hated those 'annoying, snotty kits'. Although Owlkit might be just the tiniest bit too hyper for Orangepaw, but in his mind at least, they would get along pretty well. " well, how about the medicine cat apprentice, orangepaw? " Echostar offered, shrugging. Owlkit may or may not like the idea. He couldn't force them into getting along. Suddenly, a thought occured to him. There was that new queen, right? Skycloud? The newest, though not youngest, member to WillowClan. " have you met the first queen yet? skycloud? " His eyes brightened a bit, hoping that the idea would be better than Orangepaw.

"Hmm... I think I saw her! I can't beleive there are other cats in the clan I don't know though... Won't Orangepaw be busy?... Doesn't she have to learn a lot and memorize a bunch of stuff?, I'm glad I'm not going to be a medicine cat. I'm going to be the best warrior in the world!" he said very quickly. "Echostar, do I talk too much?" Owlkit didn't want to be annoying. After all this was the clan leader. He was in a position way higher than Owlkit. He didn't want to bother him- or anybody.

Echostar listened to the young tom's words, crouching down a bit, for some unknown reason. He remembered when he had been as young and care-free .... maybe just as talkative. But that wasn't a bad thing, no, not at all. If anything, it was the opposite. A good thing. The tabby kit seemed to be a pure ball of energy, having plenty to say on everything. It might not exactly be good to voice his thoughts exactly, as it might get him in trouble in the future, but it was still plenty good to see him go on like this at this still young age. Echostar hadn't felt much pressure and stress yet, not like he'd imagine a leader to, but this was still the very beginning of his clan. He was sure that there were to be plenty of challenges along the road.
And he wanted to be prepared for it. But how could he, when there was nothing he could practice on? He didn't even have more than ten cats in his clan, for StarClan's sake! Echostar didn't feel like he was a leader at all. More like a regular cat, with the temporary right to control this little scattering of cats. More than that, he felt plain stupid. He had absolutely no idea where the cats in his clan came from, no idea how the heck a newborn kit, had ended up in their clan, and nobody had had the slightest suspicion. Echostar had no idea how a full-grown cat could just come in, and have full knowledge of this clan. He really didn't have much memory of how he himself had come to be. There was no logical reason to it ... he felt helpless. Small. Meaningless. How was he expected to lead his clan?
Echostar felt deflated now. His eyes looked dark and depressed like they were designed as, staring at the ground in sadness. This whole thing was a big mistake. He wasn't meant to lead this clan. He wasn't meant to be a warrior. He probably belonged with the rogues more than he ever would with this beautiful clan, that he used to call his. Echostar raised his head, and forced on a cheery smile, not wanting to worry the kit, if that was even possible. " of course not, young owlkit. of course not. "

Owlkit pushed back the thought that the clan leader wasn't feeling happy. "Then I'll keep talking!" Owlkit said. He bounced around the clan leader. He watched as a feather fell from a bird above him and jumped up to catch it. He grabbed it and tossed it about. "take that you bird!" he yowled playfully. "Did you like being a kit? How many friends did you have?" Owlkit said. He was eager to learn more about his clan leader. Then he thought about his own life. Not many friends... not yet anyways. But he was sure that there would be more kits soon enough. And he had Orangepaw and Skycloud to play with too. "Can you teach me anything Echstar?" He asked eagerly. Maybe he could start early learning to be a warrior. He was sure it would be fun. He still had many questions to ask but they could wait. He wanted to know what a warrior did.
