dream as if you'll live forever, LIVE AS IF YOU'LL DIE TODAYdreamdreamdreamdreamdreamdreamdreamdreamdreamdreamdreamdream- - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - Thunder rolled across the sky. Dark clouds covered the moon's light. I was curled up in my nest trembling with terror each time lightning flashed in the sky. The intense thunder felt like it was shaking the earth. I huddled close to my mother's warm, soft fur and listened the the steady rhythm of her breathing. Cold rain leaked from the ceiling of the den and soon the used-to-be soft moss was now soggy. The water irritated my fur. I stood up and walked to the corner of the den which was the most dry.
I cuddled up and wrapped my tail over my nose. A loud boom shook the ground which sent me running back to the nest by my mother's side. I tip toed onto her back with was dry unlike the moss my brother and sisters had to sleep on. I smiled and shoved my muzzle into her warm body.

Hopeshine awoke to feel someone on her back. She looked on her back to see Eaglekit. Sweetheart did the storm scare you? she asked in a sweet tone. She grabbed him off of her back and put him by her chest. She watched the others as they slept. She looked at her son with concern in her eyes. Are you alright? she asked licking him dry. He was wet but why?

dream as if you'll live forever, LIVE AS IF YOU'LL DIE TODAYdreamdreamdreamdreamdreamdreamdreamdreamdreamdreamdreamdream- - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - I nodded and nuzzled up to my mother's fur where I felt protected and safe.
"It's so loud! I'm surprised anyone could sleep through it!"
I complained as I tried to shake the water out of my fur. Thunder boomed in the sky and I shivered with fright. Lightning lit up the sky only a few moments later. The rain was pouring and creating a rhythm on the top of the den.

Hopeshine smiled sweetly at her son. Oh it's alright sweet heart. Why are you so wet? she asked licking him dry. She pressed him closer to her chest and purred trying to calm him down a little.

Unable to sleep, Redstripe sighed and sat up, blinking as the thunder slashed the sky outside. Looking around, she found Hopeshine talking to one of her kits and padded over quietly.
Hopeshine? Is everything all right? she asked, concerned. Sitting down, she looked up at little Eaglekit perched on his mother's back. I can go and fetch some freshkill if you're both hungry, and then maybe a story would help calm your nerves, Eaglekit.
She blinked her eyes, hiding their unusual dual color for a moment. They were mostly yellow, apart from a green ring around the pupil that shone when the sun hit it during the day.

Hopeshine looked to see Redstripe. I'm not hungry and you shouldn't go out there in this weather, she meowed to Redstripe. But maybe a story will help, she meowed looking at Eaglekit again.

Redstripe nodded and looked up at Eaglekit. She purred. He'd certainly earned his name, sitting up there like that. How about it, Eaglekit? Would you like a story?
She moved a little closer, not wanting to alarm him with her presence. She was still fairly new to the Clan.
